I love shooting criteriums: compact racecourse, city streets, high speeds, close contact, great crowds and they usually occur late in the day so the light is terrific. The Gran Prix of Beverly is one of the best run crits in New England, drawing racers from the whole region and this year’s race did not disappoint.

Some photographers knock smartphone photos but hey, you use the camera you have with you. Love that a bee flew near the sun when I made this picture.
Gruesome? Most definitely. Yet, I was still fascinated by this mouse that I discovered underneath our clothes dryer.
I had an assignment to photograph the full moon behind a building under construction in South Boston, I went a couple of days early to scope out the idea location (with the help of The Photographer’s Ephemeris).
As I looked to the east for the moon, I took a quick peek over my shoulder back towards Boston’s financial district and POW, this sunset unfolded before me.
The Minuteman Road Club‘s new race in Harvard, MA also functioned as a fund raiser for the Harvard Firefighter’s Fund in honor of Ken Harrod, a 45 year member of the department. Bonus: an appearance by legendary racer and announcer, Dick Ring.
